Hello Pigar pigar

It was right after our all day nap when we woke up very hungry ( We watched the take off of manila matnog manila in Quezon city hall on the eve of November 28, 2015 )

I was craving for some creamy mushroom gravy and beef steak when I thought of Shawarma's t-bone steak, upon reaching the roads of Kapt. Pepe, I suddenly remembered that it was weeks ago when Arnel and I are talking about dining at Paleta if given the time and chance ( it was pigar pigar and samgeopsyal that i really find interesting). So, instead of turning right, we took the left turn heading to paleta shabu shabu pigar pigar steak for our early dinner.

As I enter this Paleta haven ( now, I understand why this was named "Paleta", the place majority composes of wooden paleta's, the rice dealers use in piling up their sacks of palays), I was amazed with the interiors, on how they have come out with such a beautiful, cozy place out of very simple materials. The floor was covered with stones ( which i think makes the place much cooler instead of polishing it with cement), the roofs are built with woods and "pawid" ( similar to bahay kubo's roof), the lamps are made out of native materials too, and there was this one wall lamp that the bulb was covered with a large shovel.

Paleta's menu

We brought Sara along with us, and we ordered for their Caesar's salad, chicken sandwhich ( sara's on a diet ), paleta pizza, pigar-pigar and red tea.

Caesar Salad
Arnel is very hungry so I planned on having an appetizer and asked for a Caesar's salad. The salad is made of lettuce, tomatoes, chunks of carrots and cucumber richly covered with mayo-cheese with bacon bits (i was just wondering if the dressing has a mustard). I like the salad for the fresh veggies but i want to cut down the rich dressing since i don't like to overpower the natural flavors of vegetables.

Chicken Sandwhich
Sara had their chicken sandwhich. She says it's good but still mommy nita's (arnel's mom) spread tops her favorite.

Pigar-pigar with vinegar

Pigar-pigar
Finally, Hello! Pigar-pigar. I heard, this is a native of Pangasinan. Pigar-pigar is made of beef strips, young corn, cabbage, onion leaves. This is like a chinese stir fry paired with vinegar dip. I like it because the ingredients are all balanced enough to it's flavor. Arnel likes the dish, he says paleta's version is not too oily, not too salty, the beef strips were cooked just right, the greens and other veggies are crunchy ( i love the half cooked vegies because of their crispiness).

Paleta's pizza
We also have the Paleta's Pizza, this is so "SULIT". The melted cheese drools all the other toppings like ham, pineapple, mushroom, olives and bell peppers (just please make the strips shorter). The pizza sauce really tickled my taste buds and grabbed my senses of taste. It was the perfect pinoy sweet sauce.

Over all my Paleta experience was good. I like how they come up with beautiful interiors out of simple materials. The dishes they serve is very affordable, plus the very accomodating staff and the photo ops that they asked on their guests for some facebook page updates.

By the way, Paleta is located at Kapt. Pepe Subd., Cabanatuan City. At the back of Van's place.
